Lorge is located in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan but serves students from every borough of New York City. The school intentionally limits capacity to 96 students in order to maintain its personal and supportive environment.
Building History
The Lorge School is located on 17th Street between 8th and 9th Avenue in Chelsea, NY. The Lorge School has served students with exceptionalities since 1961.
Classrooms
With a maximum capacity for only 96 students, the Lorge School houses 10 classrooms serving students from the ages of 5-21 years old. All classes are in ratios of either 12:1+1 or 8:1+1. As an ungraded school, students are placed in classes according to age and ability. All classes have a mixture of ages not to exceed more than three years and most will be paired with the same teacher for added instructional continuity.
