The vision of The Lorge School is to create a family oriented approach that focuses on embracing the symbiotic relationship between school and the community, students and teachers, and academic performance with parental involvement in an ever-changing urban setting. We envision creating an inclusive and enriching environment that places social/emotional intelligence and academic development at its core. All Lorge staff members are expected to build long-term relationships with students and their families in order to build a trusting network of support in response to the complex transitions of adolescence.
Our school aims to engage our students through data driven instruction and by infusing the five habits of mind into our critical and instructional focus. More specifically, students are expected to be able to establish conjecture, make connections with new concepts, support positions by providing evidence, understanding perspective and determining relevance in an oral, written, and project based capacity.
In addition to our academic intents, students and faculty will engage in a journey of personal exploration and community engagement that teaches our young people the value of duty, justice, and service. Paramount to our vision is changing the attitudes of our students by discovering the benefits of training, practice and effort as a means for growth and incremental improvement. Through Leadership, Optimism, Virtue, and Excellence we will guide our students to practice loving themselves, each other, their communities, and the prospect of a promising future filled with opportunity and challenges that will lead to generational advancements and stability. Ultimately, we aim to prepare our students for higher education, professional or vocational opportunities, and a lifelong commitment to learning.
