The Lorge School was chartered by the New York State Education Department close to sixty years ago to provide a special education for students with learning disabilities, emotional disturbances and other health impairments. We are a Non-Public School serving students between the ages of 5-21 years old.

Academic Component
The Lorge School provides inclusive and personalized academic programming for children with special needs K-12. Students are taught in self-contained classrooms in either an 8:1+1 or 12:1+1 ratio depending on their Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). All classes are taught by a New York State (NYS) Licensed Special Education Teachers and a NYS certified Teaching Assistant. Our academic programming aligns specifically with each student’s IEP and embodies curriculum modifications, benchmark objectives and progress reporting to meet individualized goals.
Academic Component
The Lorge School adheres to the NYS next generational learning standards by providing a rich curriculum through Journey’s, Go Math, HMH Science, Global and American History. In addition, we provide supplemental programming with a focus on building writing, reading comprehension and math skills for all students through cutting-edge software and a hybrid curriculum. Our small and highly structured learning environments foster all student's to thrive academically and socially through dynamic and engaging teaching methodologies to ensure that every student has a chance to learn in a way that works for them.
Academic Component
In addition, all Lorge students are provided with instruction in art, dance and physical education. The Lorge school takes pride in being a community of learners dedicated to the pursuit of excellence through individualizing Leadership, Optimism, Virtue and Excellence (LOVE).
